INABBY is a leading advocate of children‘s reading and literature in Indonesia, which works in collaboration with the Society for the Advancement of Children’s Literature (SACL). Initiated by Dr. Murti Bunanta in 1987, it has been active by organizing events to promote quality books and encourage children’s love for reading in Indonesia. Webinar on non-fiction
On 25 February 2023, INABBY celebrated a webinar on non-fiction. Almost 300 participants attended the session, which featured talks by Setiawan G. Sasongko, Teguh Santosa and Emilia Nazir.

Book-reading for World Environment Day
The spirit of reading promotion also reached Sorowako in the South Sulawesi Province. To celebrate World Environment Day, a book reading event was organized on the theme “Love the Earth”. The activities were held by five INABBY activists, namely Mariani Pandego, Yuni Natzir, Rina Rahman, Susy Suardy and Asmira Prabowo.

SACL members’ initiative
Many INABBY and SACL members are actively committed to promoting quality books. On 10 June 2023, Julia Budihardja, INABBY member and owner of a small library in a village in West Java, organized a get-together to encourage children to read and discuss books.
